Overcoming Dental Phobia

Do you avoid routine dental checkups and cleanings because of dental anxiety? Or do you put off necessary dental treatment that is now affecting your oral health? If you suffer from dental phobia, you are not alone. Our practice is pleased to offer our patients sedation dentistry to help with their dental anxiety and make treatments a breeze.

At East Texas Dental Associates our goal is to help you feel safe while getting the quality care you need. The sedation treatments we offer include nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation to help you feel calm and comfortable during your procedure. So choices do we offer you?

Nitrous Oxide – also known as laughing gas, is administered as sedative gas mixed with oxygen which you inhale during the procedure. All you need to do is sit back, relax and breathe. That’s it! Once the procedure is finished, the effects of the gas will wear off and you will be good to go.

Oral Sedation – with oral sedation, you will simply take an oral sedative the night before your appointment to calm you so you can get a good night’s sleep, and then take another sedative before your appointment. You will feel relaxed and calm at the time of your procedure and during your treatment. Because you may feel drowsy, you will need to bring a companion with you to take you home after the treatment.

IV Sedation – during IV sedation, we administer the sedation medication through your veins. Also called twilight sleep, it works quickly while allowing us to adjust the medication levels as needed during the procedure. You will still be conscious but relaxed enough that you might fall asleep during the procedure, and you may not even remember much of the procedure. After your treatment you will also need to have someone drive you home.

At East Texas Dental Group LLC team in Tyler, Texas we want to help you get the treatment you need, ensuring the best quality care along with a positive experience. To schedule your next visit with one of our skilled dentists, please call our team at 903-509-0505 today!
